Stair Runner Edging Options

Stair runner edges refer to the way the edges of a stair runner are finished or bound.

There are various methods and materials can be used to do this.

To give stair runners a finished look and to prevent fraying, the edges are often bound with tape/border or whipped with wool yarn.

These are border tapes that are sewn onto the stair runner and are visually between 3-5cm wide on either edge of the runner.

They come in a variety of colours and patterns to compliment the runner and your decor.

A slightly more expensive option for edging your runner due to extra materials, machinery and time involved.

Very effective at enhancing the visual appeal of your staircase.

Whipping is another method used to finish the edges of a stair runner.

It involves using a special sewing machine to overlock the carpet edges, creating a tightly woven finish.

This can be done in various different colours.

Ultimately, the choice of stair runner edging will depend on your personal preference, the type of carpet runner you have, and the overall look you want to achieve for your staircase.
